Guitar-Shaped Pool Centerpiece of Bradenton, FL Home

Guitar-Shaped Pool Centerpiece of Bradenton, FL Home

It’s not every day you see a home with a guitar-shaped pool, but we got tipped off to one in Bradenton, FL , that is listed for $1.25 million. Located at 6176 9th Ave Circle, NE, Bradenton, FL 34212 , this unique home was conceived by and built for Aaron Dorfman, an insurance company owner and amateur musician who once visited a rock star’s home in Bel Air, CA , that had a pool in the shape of a guitar. He was so enthralled with the guitar-shaped pool idea that he built his own in 2004. Aaron and his son, Nicholas, also a guitarist, once jammed with Sarasota resident Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers. But, now that his son is in college, Aaron feels it’s time to downsize.

Trick-or-Treat Housing Index: Top 5 Boston Neighborhoods

Trick-or-Treat Housing Index: Top 5 Boston Neighborhoods

The Zillow Trick-or-Treat Housing Index expands to Boston . Drum roll please… Top 5 Boston-area Cities and Neighborhoods to Trick-or-Treat 1.  Cambridge 2.  Somerville 3.  Brookline 4.  South End 5.  Charlestown Methodology There is a common belief that wealthy neighborhoods are the Holy Grail for harvesting the most Halloween candy. However, to provide a more holistic approach to Halloween trick-or-treating, the Zillow Trick-or-Treat Housing Index was calculated using four equally weighted data variables: Zillow Home Value Index , population density, Walk Score, and local crime data. Based on those variables, this Index represents neighborhoods that will provide the most candy, with the least walking, and minimal safety risks. One quick note, we included Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville which are all technically cities “outside” of Boston, not neighborhoods of.  But just about any Bostonian would tell you that these are as much a part of Boston in spirit as anywhere else in the city.

Pontiac Silverdome Hits Auction Block

Pontiac Silverdome Hits Auction Block

Obviously, it’s not a residential property, but it’s a headline we couldn’t pass up: the Pontiac Silverdome, which has hosted dignitaries, celebrities and events such as the Pope, the Super Bowl, and Hulk Hogan, is on the auction block in which sealed bids will be accepted by Williams & Williams through Nov. 12 . The dome has hosted many record-setting events and was home to the NFL’s Detroit Lions and the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, but the Detroit area continues to suffer as home values have dropped 23% year-over-year and Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the U.S. The Silverdome sits mostly empty and has become a money drain on the City of Pontiac , costing approximately $1.5 million a year in upkeep.
